Donahue will start with the gel first. Using a stiff
nylon-bristle brush, apply a film of gel and work
it into the rusted area. Here we are applying it
to the rusted back of a battery cover. You will
start to see the gel turn a shade of brown as it
works into the rusted area. After you have worked
it into the area, apply a second layer. Now let
this stand for approximately 15 minutes.

 |
 |
After
15 minutes, remove the rust using a stiff nylon-bristle
brush or scuff pad on the gel that you had applied.
|
| Now
wipe the surface dry with a towel. You can see how
the gel removed the rust and left a clean surface
where it was applied. |

on a wire bike wheel.

Greg Donahue uses Rusteco Gel on a wire wheel, he
applies it to the wheel using 0000 steel wool.

Here
Greg Donahue's wife applies Rusteco Gel to the rusted
wire wheel using just a tooth brush. Notice she
is not using any gloves to apply the gel, the product
is safe to contact the skin. |
| Now
wipe the surface dry with a towel. You can see how
the gel removed the rust and left a clean surface
where it was applied. |

Example
of the usage of RUSTECO R-200-1 liquid CORROSION
TREATMENT on small parts.
|
| Now
Greg Donahue will show us an example of the use
of the Liquid R-200 rust removal on some small rusted
parts. Before starting you must remove any grease,
grime or dirt that has accumlated on the rusted
parts. For very small applications brake cleaner
does a very good job in removing grease and grime
from small parts, and will leave a clean, dry surface.
If the area were larger, GreaseMaster R-300 would
be used, an environmentally safer solution.

 |
 |
When
the parts are grease and grime free, he places them
in a container and totally immerse them in the R-200
Liquid. The rust is plainly visible on the items
we are going to de-rust. |
| Greg
allowed the parts to stay in the liquid for 24 hours.
Upon removal they were totally rust-free. Now they
have corrision protection as long as they are not
exposed to water. Another good thing about Rusteco,
if we decide to paint these items they would not
need to be primed first. To speed up the rust removal
process heat the liquid to between 120 and 160 degrees.
This will cut rust removal time considerably. A
Pyrex glass container and a hot plate work quite
well for this proceedure. |
